Valentine’s Day Facts

- Around 200 million cards are sent every year for Valentine‘s day.

-25% of all greeting cards are given on Valentine’s Day here in the U.S.

-In Sweden, Valentine’s Day is called Alla hjärtans dag (“All Hearts‘ Day”) and was started in the 1960′s by the flower industry due to the influence of the American tradition.

-Ystävänpäivä (“Friend’s day”) is celebrated in Finland on February 14th and is about remembering your friends, not just your loved ones.

-Many South American countries including Mexico, Ecuador and Costa Rica celebrate “Día del Amor y la Amistad” (Day of Love and Friendship). It is similar to the U.S. traditions with addition of doing kind acts of appreciation for their friends.
