Valentine The Martyr
Valentine’s Day is a day celebrated every year on February 14th in the whole world. It is a day when people express their feelings to each other by giving personalized gifts or greeting cards or flowers.
The day is named after a Martyr who was named Valentine. In the United States it is the second largest card-sending holiday of the year because approximately 200 million cards are sent on this day.

According to one legend, valentine actually sent the first valentine greeting to himself while he was in jail and fell in love with a young girl who was jailer’s lovely sister.
Before he died he wrote her a beautiful letter and at last he wrote “From your Valentine”.
Valentine was one of the most popular saints in Europe. While some believe that Valentine’s Day is celebrated to memorize the anniversary of Valentine’s death, other believe that the church may have decided to celebrate Valentine’s feast in February.
So there are many stories which are considered to be the reason of celebrating valentine’s day.
